NEW RELEASE: Freedom's Rampart

Updated: Mar 2, 2021

Freedom's Rampart: The Russian Invasion of New Zealand is a Sea Lion Press first: the classic genre of invasion literature, but transplanted to the oft-overlooked country of New Zealand.

Katherine Foy (editor, Fight Them On The Beaches and Travellers in an Antique Land) brings to life a tale of a little local difficulty in 1891, which quickly escalates into the naval bombardment and occupation of the New Zealand city of Dunedin by cruisers of the Russian Far East Squadron. The story follows four characters, Russian sailors and New Zealand civilians, as they are caught up in a conflict of bullets, loyalty, and farce.
